Relaunch your launcher and let it update itself to Launcher 3.6.0 and pull Mod 3.21.0.
The Matches board
The Matches tab in the EF Controller used to show only matches already in progress. Now it works like the departure board at an airport: every lobby and every match, in every region, from the moment players gather until the match is over.
Each row shows its status:
| Status | Like a departure board | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting for players | In the station | A lobby with players in it, filling up. |
| Match starting | Now boarding | The 2 minute countdown is on, shown in the Time column. Get in before it leaves. |
| Match started | Departed | The match is being played. Time shows how long it has been going. |
| Match ending | Arriving | A Battle Royale match down to its last 8. Its players will be back in the queue soon. |
| Match ended | Arrived | The match is over and its players are heading back. |
- Rows run in that order, so you can read a mode from top to bottom: who’s gathering, who’s about to leave, and who’s on their way back.
- Hover a lobby that’s Waiting for players to see whether it’s being held for players who are still finishing another match.
- Spectate is there for every match in play (Match started and Match ending).
- Pick a region and a mode at the top, just like before.
Your language, everywhere
Elemental Fracture now uses one language across the whole game. Whichever one you pick, the others follow:
- The game’s own Settings > Language. This is the main one. Change it there and the EF Controller and your account follow.
- The EF Controller’s language setting. Pick a language there and the game switches to it too.
- Your account’s preferred language on elefrac.com. Change it on the website and your game and EF Controller switch while you play. When you sign in on a new machine, the game starts in your account’s language.
If your account doesn’t have a preferred language yet, it takes the one your game is using.
More translated text
Text we add to the game’s own screens now shows in your language:
- The main menu counter: “N players online | M players in “, mode names included.
- The REPORT button on the match-end screen and while spectating.
- The Matches board in the EF Controller, including every status above.
All ten of the game’s languages are covered: English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Russian. Dominion and Clash keep their English names, the same as everywhere else in the EF Controller.
Launcher 3.6.0: installs that actually stay up to date
Some of you saw the launcher say your game and mods were up to date while the game still started on an older version. That almost always came down to where Spellbreak was installed. The launcher now checks the folder before it installs or updates anything:
- Steam and Epic copies of Spellbreak can’t be used. Those stores keep putting their own files back, so updates never stick. If you point the launcher at one, it tells you so. Use Download game to install Elemental Fracture’s own copy instead. (Starting the launcher from Steam’s Play button still works as before.)
- No more installs inside OneDrive. Windows puts Documents and the Desktop in OneDrive, and OneDrive locks and restores files while it syncs, so updates were quietly undone. The launcher now refuses a OneDrive folder and asks you to move Spellbreak somewhere like
C:\Games. - A better default location. Download game now starts in a Spellbreak folder right next to the launcher. That folder is always yours to write to and OneDrive never touches it. You can still pick anywhere else.
- Folders the launcher can’t write to get fixed. If your Spellbreak folder won’t accept updates (for example, it’s inside Program Files), the launcher repairs the permissions on that folder, and only that folder. If that needs administrator rights, it asks whether to restart as administrator.
- New setting: Run as administrator (Windows, under Settings > Launcher). Starts the launcher, and the game with it, as administrator. You only need it if your Spellbreak folder can’t be fixed any other way.
All of the new messages are available in every launcher language.
See you in the arena.
