Relaunch your launcher, let it pull Mod 3.19.0, and play. The balance patch is unchanged at Game 6.4.4 and the launcher stays at 3.5.11.
This one is about talking to each other. Spellbreak shipped without a text chat, which was fine when every lobby was voice-chatted friends and less fine when it is 180 strangers in a menu with nothing to say to each other but a party invite. Chat is in. So is a proper way to report someone, because the one follows from the other.
Text chat
Press Enter. In the main menu that opens a chat drawer next to the EMOTE button; in a match it opens a small log at the right edge, under the players-alive counter. Enter again sends, Esc closes.
Four channels, picked with a slash command. This works the way Final Fantasy’s chat does, if you have ever used that: the command switches you, and whatever you type after it goes out on the new channel.
/mMenu: everyone who is in the main menu right now. Menu only./gGame: everyone on your game server. Match only./sSquad: your party in the menu, your squad in a match./t Name messageTell: a private message to one player. This one does not switch your channel, it just sends./r messagereplies to the last tell you were sent.
Each channel has its own colour, and the outline around the text box takes the colour of the channel you are about to speak on, so you can tell at a glance whether that joke is going to your squad or to the whole server. Type /help or press the ? on the box for the list.
History sticks around. The last hundred lines are kept across screens and across relaunches, and when you sign in the server sends you what was said while you were away: the recent menu chatter, plus anything on your own channels and tells. In a match the log never fades; it scrolls, and the mouse wheel scrolls it while chat is open.
The CHAT button counts for you. Collapsed, it shows how many lines arrived while it was closed. It behaves like EMOTE: open the emote wheel, a party invite, or any other screen and chat gets out of the way on its own.
Limits. 200 characters a message, five messages per ten seconds, a word filter, and blocks work in both directions: someone you have blocked cannot see you in chat and you cannot see them. Staff can mute. If you would rather not have any of this, Settings, Gameplay, “Show text chat” turns it off.
Reporting a player
Until now, reporting someone in game was a single click that sent us a name and nothing else, and from the team-mode scoreboard it did not even do that for a long while. With chat in the picture that is not enough.
There is now a report form. It opens from REPORT PLAYER in the Friends tab, in both All Friends and Recent Teammates, from the match-end screens, and from chat with /report Name. Your name, the date, the player, and whether you were in a match or in the menu are filled in for you. You write what happened and hit Submit.
Every report arrives with the chat. Both players’ recent lines, on every channel, come with it, so when someone says something they should not have, the moderators read exactly what was said rather than two people’s versions of it. Reports are limited to five an hour per account.
