How to Use the EF Controller Menu
The EF Controller is the in-game overlay that lets you host and configure matches, spawn gear, build and apply loadouts, view your stats, and (for staff) run moderation and debug tools. This page walks through every menu and setting.
Opening the menu
- Press F8 to open or close the EF Controller. You can change this key under Settings → Keyboard.
- While the menu is open, your mouse controls the overlay and game input is paused for menu navigation.
- While the menu is closed, any keys or controller buttons you have bound to actions (drop item, heal, etc.) fire directly in-game.
Layout
- Left nav: the list of sections. Which sections show depends on the current mode (Battle Royale vs Capture/Dominion) and your account role.
- Top bar: your current region, the active balance mode (Elemental Fracture or Classic), a Play Ranked toggle (coming in a future update), and the Settings gear.
Region
Click the region label in the top bar to choose where you connect:
- North America, Europe, Japan: the official regional servers.
- Custom: enter your own server address (for private/self-hosted servers).
BR Match Settings
Shown in Battle Royale. Controls for hosting a BR match. Most actions only take effect on the machine hosting the match, so tick Enable Host Control once you are the host.
- Start Match: begins the match / skips the lobby countdown.
- Stop / Resume Countdown: pause or resume the pre-match countdown.
- Num Bots: set how many AI bots fill the match, then Set.
- Bot Difficulty: Very Easy, Easy, Medium, or Hard.
- Spawn Bot: drop a single bot into the match on demand.
Dominion Match (Capture)
Shown in Capture/Dominion (team) modes. Host Control applies here too.
- Start Match: starts the round. Locked while you are alone in the lobby (a team mode needs more than one player).
- Stop / Resume Countdown.
- Boons, Zones, NPCs: toggle each match feature on or off.
- Switch Team: move yourself to the other team. Always available (not gated behind Host Control).
- Arena: pick the map (Hymnwood, Halcyon, Dustpool, Bogmore, Banehelm), then Set.
Character
Your personal actions. In Capture and Practice this section also gains the Item Spawner and Loadouts tabs.
Self actions
- Drop Amulet / Belt / Boots / Rune / Secondary: drop that piece of gear on the ground.
- Drop Primary: drop your primary gauntlet. Not recommended: you may be unable to pick it back up.
- Drop All: drop everything except your primary.
- Heal (Capture only): restore your health and stoneskin.
- Die: kill your own character (asks for confirmation).
Item Spawner (Capture / Practice)
Spawn any gear at any rarity to test builds.
- Offhand Gauntlet: choose an element and rarity, then Spawn.
- Rune, Amulet, Boot, Belt: pick the item + rarity and spawn it.
- Set Class: switch your character class.
- Level Up Class: add one class level (Once) or jump straight to max (Max 3x).
- Upgrade Perks: add Mind / Body / Spirit perk levels (x1 or x3).
- Perk selection: choose your Mind, Body and Spirit perks. The counter shows Points Used out of 7.
- Reset Perks: clear all perk choices.
Loadouts
Save complete builds and apply them instantly. Each loadout slot holds a class, primary tier, offhand gauntlet(s), rune, amulet, boots, belt, and a full perk setup.
- Name: rename the slot.
- Class: the character class (with a Clear button).
- Primary Tier: optionally re-spawn the primary gauntlet at a chosen tier.
- Offhand: the secondary gauntlet element + rarity. Multi (Spellslinger) lets you carry extra offhand gauntlets. Tick any elements except your primary.
- Rune / Amulet / Boots / Belt: pick each item and its rarity.
- Perks: Mind / Body / Spirit selections plus Level Ups and which stats to Upgrade. The counter shows perk points out of 7.
- Boss Command: paste a boss command string to auto-fill the loadout fields.
- Save / Apply / Delete: store the build, equip it, or clear the slot. See the two loadout options under Settings for cleaner applies.
Account
Your identity and lifetime stats: your display name, Spellbreak ID, account role (Player, Tester, Staff, Developer), and career totals pulled from your match history.
Logs
Appears once you enable a log viewer under Settings. Two viewers:
- UE4 Log: the game engine log.
- Mod Log: the EF mod DLL log.
Each viewer has a text filter, an auto-scroll toggle, a Refresh button, and verbosity controls (ALL shows every level).
Settings (the gear)
Bound keys fire when the menu is closed. Press Esc to cancel a binding.
Keyboard & Controller
- Rebind the Open / Close Menu key (default F8).
- Bind quick actions (Drop Amulet / Belt / Boots / Rune / Secondary, Drop All, and Heal in Capture) to a key or a controller button (A, B, X, Y, LB, RB, D-pad, Start, Back, LS, RS, triggers). Use Bind to set and Clear to unbind.
Crouch is now baked into the game natively, so it no longer needs a bind here.
Gameplay
- Auto-Heal on Respawn (Capture only): automatically restore health and stoneskin when you respawn.
- Loadouts: Equip & Delete: applying a loadout deletes the gear it replaces instead of dropping it on the ground (a clean swap, no litter).
- Loadouts: Auto-Equip on Select: apply a loadout the instant you click it in the list, with no separate Apply press.
Quality of Life
- Change Mode button: makes the mode label in the top bar clickable so you can preview Elemental Fracture vs Classic (theme + loadout data only; the live balance follows whatever the launcher booted).
Logs
- Enable UE4 Log / Enable Mod Log: show those viewers in the left nav.
Metrics
- The metrics collector address used for your career stats, with a Reset to Default button. Most players never need to touch this.
